The 5 Best Natural Health Magazines

Natural HealthNatural health is a topic I have only really discovered this year. I've always been wary of medications and many medical health solutions, but had very little knowledge of what my other options were. I'm a little bit embarrassed to say that my "solution" was to simply ignore health altogether. Luckily, I've never been very unhealthy because of this, but I was missing out on just how great I could actually feel.

My introduction to Natural Health was made by my father. He discovered, through obsessive research, many foods and essential oils that were curing ailments he has had for most of his life, and was then giving them to his brother to help him as well. At first, I listened politely to his reviews, and tried to hide any dirty looks I'd give the dozens of new concoctions he had brewing on the stove. I'd jokingly remark "If you grew up in the old times, you'd be burned as a witch." But gradually, I started paying attention to the results, and doing some research of my own. What I have found has made this year one of the best in my life, and I continue to discover new wonders almost every day. The fantastic part is that I have learned the most practical and helpful advice from natural health magazines. Here is a list of the 5 I believe are the best, and actually have a subscription to.

Delicious Living was the first "alternative health" magazine I subscribed to. I was rather lucky one day as I was shopping my local Good Health location and they were running a special for a free year subscription to Delicious Living. I signed up, and have been very happy each month since then.
This magazine contains articles not only for the latest discoveries in natural healing, but also easy recipes, party dinner ideas, budgeting ideas, natural beauty tips, and a lot more. It may be an issue all about woman's health and the best diet for preventing breast cancer, or an issue covering healthy eating during Thanksgiving.

Whatever topic the editors decide on, it is sure to offer each reader some new and actually helpful advice.
The cost for this magazine's subscription is very low, but I love that many health food stores will also offer it for free. Their website ( also has the option for free newsletters via email, as well as a ton of content you can access any time for free.

Natural Health
With a name like Natural Health, you know this magazine would have to make the list. I have only been receiving it for four months, but have taken quite a bit away from each issue. It has a very professional feel to the website and each issue, giving it more of an authoritative voice than other publications. Articles can span from exercise for the elderly, to personal accounts of how natural healing saved someone's life.

Recipes found in Natural Health are fairly easy to make, but apply more to those with a need for more variety and flavor in their daily meals. This magazine I received at a price of $19.97, but I have seen it at even lower prices since then. Their website,, normally has the best price. OF course it also has the option for a free email newsletter and spotlights on super deals for all sorts of natural living products.

total Health
Total Health is a very straightforward publication that focuses mainly on diet and exercise. Each issue contains information of different foods, herbs, and liquids that will help improve longevity and lower your health risks, as well as articles about exercise in all it's various forms. The basic message of this magazine is one we've heard a billion times: eat right and exercise. But it goes a step further and offers great ways on how to do that by spelling out what to eat and why, and what exercise options are out there for each type of person. You won't find a lot of fluff or heart-to-heart type stories, but you will find direct information you can count on to be accurate and truthful.

The website,, is lacking in design and content. It doesn't contain exciting graphics or videos, and has no newsletter option. It does have the option to read the current issue (mostly) in PDF format, though, and the option to catch up on missed issues once you sign up for free membership. The price I paid for Total Health was $16 for one year, but again I have seen lower prices on the website since then.

Natural Solutions
Natural Solutions is a semi-monthly magazine. The total issues in one year is 8, and I have not been subscribed long enough to know how that works out. So far, I have gotten three subscriptions and am haven't been disappointed by any of them. However, they do seem to repeat themselves and other magazines quite a bit, so I am not sure I will be renewing my subscription.

This magazine even follows in the footsteps of 8 issues per year, but at a slightly higher rate of $19.95. The website can be located at, and it might be a better idea to simply read through their enormous library of online articles. This is what I have gotten the most use out of.

Nature's Wisdom
Nature's Wisdom is a much warmer publication than most health magazines. It actually reads more like a women's magazine than anything else. It covers many aspects of holistic professions and healing, as well as spotlighting certain foods and herbs each issue and how to maximize the benefits. It is a perfect magazine to clip out certain articles and hand to friends or family, but I normally don't keep the whole magazine after reading it once.
Again this subscription gives you 8 magazines a year, and for $15. I have yet to find any lower price, and you can order a subscription right from the website at

Subscribing to so many magazines has me reading quite a bit, and the amount I have learned can be overwhelming at times. But I love to save articles and recipes I find particularly interesting and then pass them around for others to enjoy. The binder I have chosen to store all of these clippings is quickly filling to the brim!
