5 Tips For Your Leaky Gut Diet

By Jean Shaver on March 22, 2010

Don't know what foods you should be eating?

With all the diet information out there do you not know who to listen to?

Are you tryin to eat healthy but still suffereing with Leaky Gut Syndrome?

There is a 99% chance that you are in need of a full upgrade to your leaky gut diet.

I will give you the help you need to show you what you should and should not be eating. It doesn't even matter if you like to go out to eat or keep to your kitchen. I want to give you 5 amazing tips for your leaky gut diet that you can put to work for you immediately in order to get some well needed relief from your symptoms.

1. Eat Only Whole Foods

With leaky gut, you should be eating predominantly fresh meats and vegetables. Fresh fruits, nuts, and seeds, and minimal grains should be used sparingly. But you must eat some high quality animal protein. Packaged and processed foods are full of nasty fillers and chemicals, many of which could be causing your symptoms so it should go without saying to stay away from these entirely.

2. Fine Tune Food Ratios

Unfortunately, we don't all share the same DNA and because of that our diets are meant to be different. Some are meant to eat more protein while some are meant to eat more carbs. Others do better by balancing the two. Your goal should be to determine what works best for you and your body. It really isn't that difficult. You can test this by trying to eat using both extremes. Eat a high quality meal of mostly animal protein with a side of veggies. How did that make you feel? Tomorrow, do the same experiment except eat mostly veggies, a little bit of meat and possible grains. How did that make you feel? Whichever one worked better for you, stick to it and then fine tune your diet from there. Once you have found your optimal ratios and are feeling good, then you should stick with those ratios for all of your meals.

3. Avoid Common Food Allergies at all Costs

If you have leaky gut then you have food allergies. You can't have one without the other and this is where most treatment fails. You need to make sure to avoid any food you are allergic to so that it does not create an immune response. I've seen it happen many of time. People determine their food allergies and cut these foods out and their symptoms disappear. You want your leaky gut diet to focus on eliminating all of the common food allergies to begin with in order for your intestinal lining to heal.

A) Gluten containing grains such as wheat, barley, and rye

B) Dairy products such as milk and cheese

C) Soy products such as Tofu and lesser known vegetable oil, salad dressings, and others

D) Processed sugar which is found in almost any processed food

But this is just the start because you most likely have many more food allergies than these alone. It is oftentimes the foods you eat the most that you develop allergies to. But you can figure out these allergies easily if you know the right methods.

4. Remove All the Cookies, Pastries, and other Baked Goods

These are chalked full of leaky gut causing ingredients like processed flour and processed sugar. If you take a look at the list above, you'll see these two clearly. Just think, they have no nutritional value and instead, steal nutrients from your body. But that doesn't mean you have to suffer desertless for the rest of your life. There are plenty of healthy deserts you can enjoy.

5. Make the Change to Natural Sea Salt

Salt? If you look at any study showing the ill effects of salt, then you might noticed that they were all performed using the highly toxic and processed table salt. So yes, this type of white table salt should be avoided at all costs, especially on a leaky gut diet. But there are plenty of healthy benefits to naturally occuring sea salt. For starters, it contains many of the trace minerals that you body needs to function on an everyday basis. And it doesn't contain all those nasty and toxic anti-caking substances nor is it bleached. So if you are using Morton's or the like, toss it out ASAP. Instead, go with a New Zealand or Celtic Sea Salt. Natural sea salt should not be white in color. It should contain a little bit of color like pink or gray.

If you follow these simple leaky gut diet tips by themselves you can easily get some serious symptomic relief. That is because the truth is that your diet is thefoundation of your health. This is really the real reason why my approach of holistic healing gets me and my clients wonderful and permanent results.
